Andrew McClelland is a famed DJ, MC, comedian and born entertainer, who will go the extra mile to make your event the perfect evening.
Hello, Andrew here.
I’m a very inclusive and enthusiastic DJ, MC and comedian.
When it comes to DJing, I love broad pop music and am happy to play almost any genre and style from rock to pop to soul to indie to dance to hip hop and from the 50s to today. I’m happy to take requests from the crowd and can DJ with as much or as little input as you like. I am known for my enthusiastic dancing to my music, which leads to a very positive, party atmosphere, which in turn gets the crowd enthusiastic to dance.
I’ve DJd many hundreds of parties, corporate events and a thousand or so weddings across Australia, the US, the UK and South East Asia as well as having played festivals and club nights around the world. I was also Cher’s only support act for her entire 16-date Aus/NZ stadium tour in 2018, Robbie Williams’ support for his secret Melbourne show in June 2022 and Hot Dub Time Machine’s support in 2016 and 2024. I love to perform, DJ and dance and get the audience dancing with me.
I’ve played the centre-piece parties for the Melbourne International Film Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Melbourne and Sydney Taste Festival, Melbourne Fashion Festival, Time Out Magazine Sydney and Melbourne Awards, St Kilda Film Festival, movie premieres, major musical opening night parties and more.
I’ve played corporate parties for Google, Funlab, NZ’s All Blacks Rugby Team, The North Melbourne AFL team, Toyota, Priceline, Country Road and really, too many to mention. I’ve also also DJed events and clubs in the UK, South East Asia, NZ and around Australia. It’s been bloody delightful.
You may also know me from my club night: ‘Mr. McClelland’s Finishing School’ which has run for 16 years at Fringe Common Rooms (formerly Bella Union) at the Trades Hall in Melbourne. It was Melbourne ‘Time Out’ Magazine’s top listed night club and the feature club of their first issue.
As for MCing, I’m a multiple-award winning comedian and bring a playful, well-dressed, irreverent (but never rude) style to the proceedings. I’ll keep your audience entertained and engaged throughout the evening.
Now I’ll stop talking about how good I am, which is always a little awks, but rest assured that if you book me for whatever entertainment you might need, we’ll have a damned good night of it.
What does he play?
My signature style is my energetic presentation of the music. That is, I dance whilst I’m DJing. I really get into the music (to be frank, I don’t know how some other DJs just stand there whilst they’re playing) and I find that my own enthusiasm for the music then rubs off on to the crowd.
I don’t really have a ‘set’, as every night I just bring a huge amount of music, both on my devices and in my brain, and go where the crowd takes me. I cater to the crowd exclusively and play all kinds of music. Everything from the 50s to today and all the beautiful genres that splinter off that. From Elvis to The Supremes to The Beatles to The Bee Gees to Donna Summer to Bowie to Prince to The Cure to Blur to Britney to The Spice Girls to Justin Timberlake to Hall & Oates to Beyonce to Daft Punk to Arctic Monkeys to Calvin Harris to The Weeknd to Phoenix to The Clash to Lizzo to Taylor Swift to Chappell Roan and all in between. I can of course tailor things in any direction you may prefer.
My personal favourite genres are Britpop, 80s indie, Soul, 60s rock and contemporary indie, but I’ll likely skip all of that unless you ask for it.
I can mix live and get the dance floor going hard, but can also play a nice mix of gentler stuff for the quieter parts of the evening.
I will work damn hard to ensure that you guys have an amazing party.

The Personal Touch.
I’m not an agency, I handle everything himself. You don’t have to worry that I’ll be the bored DJ in the corner, playing from a company-approved set list of the most obvious tracks. Or that I’ll play whatever hard-trance hits I think make a great floor (I don’t actually think that makes a great floor.) Instead I’ll tailor the music to what you want, with some well-placed advice about what might work for your crowd, if wanted.
You can let me take care of everything with just some basic input, if you don’t want the stress, or you can meet up before the big day and talk about the exact music you really want to (and really don’t want to) hear. Then I’ll come up with a plan to perfectly complement your whole day, from background chill and toe-tappers to building up the mood to making sure that the dance floor goes off with a massive bang right until the end of the night.
